The Relevance of Multimedia to Marketing

As for a multimedia arts student, marketing is what I need in the future to make money out of my works. I need marketing to manage everything.

I need to market my potential clients and capture value from my clients, my works should meet the needs and wants of my clients, I should have my strategy to attract people to patronize my works and build profitable relationship with them.

Multimedia is always connected to marketing because most of all multimedia arts need audience/buyers/clients. It is necessary to learn the basics of marketing so that I will be able to apply it someday when I am working in the real world. Basically, marketing is building profitable customer relationships by creating value for customers and capturing value in return.

There are also other components of marketing such as advertising, public relations, promotion, publicity and sales and what is the relevance of this to multimedia?

Advertising in multimedia can be useful at the moment of the creation of a multimedia work. Promotion starts when the multimedia work created by the artist began to post it and when he starts to spread it while public relations starts when people react or inquire about the work publicity starts when people continuously suggesting your works to other people and the people themselves make your work popular to everyone and sales is the cultivation of the prospective clients/buyers.

The 3A's of marketing is also relevant to multimedia.

1. Awareness- the artist should inform the people that he exists and inform the public about your products and services.
2. Affordability- the price of the works or services you offer should always be reasonable and affordable to everyone or your services should comply with the kind of quality you serve.
3. Availability- you should have a target audience within the area so that you can be sure of what kind of services is needed in the kind of environment or area you are planning to start your multimedia business.

That's the relevance of multimedia to marketing for me.

We've sensed it. We've seen the signs. Now, It's Happening

Rain. Rain. Rain. There's no need to worry about it? Some of us would say "oh c'mon it's just raining, it won't kill you" well that was before. Raining nowadays have become more aggressive and powerful. WHY?
It is all because of us PEOPLE who doesn't mind cutting down trees and transforming mountains into buildings and subdivisions, We are too busy improving our lives and too busy buying expensive gadgets while  everything around us is slowly dying, our earth is slowly dying! Do we need those gadgets and all if the world we live in is slowly killing us by our own fault? How come we didn't realize that we also make our own lives miserable and we are like killing ourselves too by being selfish. Let's not be blind. Everything was written already we know it's gonna happen, maybe not now but for sure it will. Nobody knows when.

As of what I have heard on the news, there are just only 3% ice remaining on the north pole and I think that is the reason why there are heavy rainstorms and floods going on. Also these wastes people throw everywhere. People are so stubborn yet when something like calamities happen, we seek help for the damages we've done to ourselves and that's really stupid!

Rains now are like typhoons already how much more if it was a typhoon? I couldn't imagine what people would do. Floods, Landslides, Deaths and many more. What else could we offer in exchange of many lives? More mountains to flatten? More trees to burn? More trash to throw? More rivers to throw garbage at? More lives to suffer in exchange for a better and advanced living? If lives could be just like before, everything is simple and reserved. If I were given a chance, I would still want to live in the old days where people are contented with just simple things. People learn to appreciate simple efforts, children play the traditional Filipino games and more.

What do we do on rainy days? We just usually stay inside the house, Text and inform everyone that there's no classes, Watch Tv, Eat a lot and of course sleep. That's what most of us do RIGHT?
But what we should really do?

We should pray, pray and pray. We should think of other things we can do to help those who are in need by means of little things like donating. Be ready for whatever might happen. Help each other. Use these high technology gadgets to inform and help everyone.

But honestly? We can't do anything when nature fights us back. Of course, even us when hurt will fight back and so do our nature and what's more ridiculous is that we are just making our own lives miserable using nature.

EVERYTHING THAT IS BORROWED SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE OWNER.

Article 2: Animation, Computer Game and Comic Book Design
Perhaps this is an obscure concern to most in educational circles in Metro Manila, but these are the areas "where the money is". As was stated in the UE-FRASI forum, the Philippines has historically served as an offshore "sweatshop" for the animation houses of Hollywood and Tokyo. It is the assertion of the author that the Philippines can produce world-class animation for exportation to TV markets in the West, especially now with the advent of computer tools not available just a few years ago. With English language and a keen understanding of American if not Western culture, Filipino animators and game designers have a distinct advantage over other ASEAN countries when it comes to being able to exploit this field of media production. Animation and computer game design and production call upon a multiplicity of skills from scriptwriting and drawing skills to computer language programming and music/sound effects composition. Schools responding to this call in the survey included National Polytechnic Institute, UE-Caloocan and Manila, and FE's Institute of Architecture and Fine Arts. Ms. Margarita "Midge" K. Manlapig, a guest speaker at the UE-FRASI forum made it abundantly clear that there is a future in the Philippines for animation, and schools should begin rethinking their curricular offerings in light of these potentials. Schools that are able to offer rigorous courses within this realm will attract industry funding and support in many forms such as software and hardware work stations. This is what the Silicon Graphics-level of companies are doing with institutions offering programs in 3-D modeling and animation in the U.S., for example.

The article above clearly says the state of Multimedia in the Philippines. It explains where the Philippines are right now in terms of Technology. We are somehow improving and slowly getting high-tech as years passes by. Also with the help of Multimedia Courses, many Filipinos are enhancing their skills to get in touch with the booming technology and schools offering multimedia courses is responsible for honing these students and seeking professional help of different multimedia professionals. For me, the state of multimedia here is just beginning, we're not there already we were just starting to improve and strive for a more advanced technology. I believe that Filipinos are very talented and skillful I have no doubt that the Philippines will be more known in this industry after several years and right now, there are already lots of amazing Filipino animators and designers.

Philippine Multimedia Industry Today

Multimedia courses are very in demand here in the Philippines that's why there are lots of multimedia companies here. In this industry, you can learn so much and apply what you have learned and make profit out of it. Multimedia is a wide field full with different aspects that will never get old and will always be the talk  not just within the country, but also within the whole world.

Multimedia Industries here in the Philippines are also improving when it comes to doing 3d movies and other visual effects. Although multimedia has many other branches, all of them are working and still progressing here in the Phillipines I believe that in time when more schools offer multimedia courses, our multimedia industry will get noticed and we could also compete with other leading multimedia country like Japan and America.

MMA FULL FORCE!

Last Monday was the general assembly of the whole MMA body. It was so fun and full of different people. The election of officers was fun also. There are lots of freshmen students this year! It was really awesome! And most of them were really talented already. The third year students were there also to give support for their candidates and for second year students also to share experiences with the freshmen students.

We had a very funny pictorial for our class picture, it was really touching to see those freshies because in our case, we were very few compared to them. We are all hoping that next school year, there will be another batch of students that will be one of us who we can share our skills and knowledge with.

I hope that the freshmen students will be more attached to us all so that we can help them and guide them.
Although some of them already know us, still the majority of them didn't approach or even know us when we greet them.

As for the third year students, I am hoping we could bond with each other more often and guide us also.
They are fun to be with, we sometimes make fun of each other and tell silly jokes, sing, dance and all those crazy moments.

I am looking forward to the upcoming events which will test the unity of the whole MMA society and also hoping everyone will participate especially the first year students because they are so many.

The general assembly was full of funny memories and more of it will continue until the next general assembly of MMA society.

CHANGES. CHANGES. CHANGES. IT MADE ME STRONGER.

Okay. Changes, changes, changes. It can mean 2 different actions. It can be for good or for bad. A person changes without no reason. Everything happens for a reason right? So in  my case, I think I really changed A LOT. So here my story goes.

Way back then in High School. I was never an active student. Well yes I am active academically. But when it comes to joining a singing contest? IT'S A NO NO. Ha-ha! I am not that confident with my voice then, I didn't know I had this talent so I just sing for fun and like that.
I don't put much attention to my appearance before. I was like a typical high school student who loves challenges and more challenges. I never settle for less. I always wanted to experience the things I wanted but the problem with me is that I never trust myself that I can do it.

When I first entered college, I told myself I will change and accept challenges and face everything. I would do everything to make it to the best that I can do. And it all started when I joined my one and only cultural group LYCEUM CONCERT SINGERS. Actually I am really thankful that I joined this organization because with the help of the people behind it, I improved myself much better as the days passed by. I have developed my singing skills, I am not afraid to stand and sing in front of many people, communicate with different kinds of people, deal with challenges, face reality, have friends, learn new things and much more.
At first, all I ever think is that I'm going to sing with this group, attend rehearsals and that's it. But I was wrong. There are lots of things in this world that you cannot learn in school and you cannot learn by reading books. There are many different people to deal with and challenges to accept and problems to solve and many more to come.

Those who are with me from the very start and still with me now are the ones who really know who I was then and who I am now. My high school friends, all of them are these people who never fail to make me happy and they are the ones who made me this way. I believe in this saying, "Malalaman mo kung anong tunay nyang pagkatao pag nakasama mo ang mga tunay nyang kaibigan." And now in college I also found the friends that I can lean on and I am so happy I have them in my life.

And of course, my family who made it all possible and guided me through it all . They are my greatest inspiration. And God above all.

Now I am 19 years old and beginning to say goodbye to my teenage years, I would say YES I CHANGED FOR THE BETTER AND I WILL STILL CHANGE FOR THE BEST SOON.

The importance of Adobe Bridge

Basically Adobe Bridge is an Adobe software that manages and organizes files on your computer. Adobe Bridge has many features in which you can also edit images like in Adobe Photoshop but of course some features are not available and limited to some basic editing tools.
Personally, I don't like my files scattered all around my desktop so I organize them by creating folders and sorting my files so that I can find the files I need faster.

Adobe Bridge has a lot of cool stuffs that can make your organized files fun like by rating them with stars and  filtering them by their own keywords. It is easy to understand and Adobe Bridge automatically arranges your files to make your daily tasks easy. Also it has plug-ins that you can use to send works directly from any Adobe software specially in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, After effects and many more.

This software is important especially for artists, photographers and animators who usually stores large files and tons of images and videos. Adobe Bridge is the best software to use to organize files.

100% A-W-E-S-O-M-E-N-E-S-S!!

GRAFFITI PARTY

If I were to describe my 1st year as an MMA student, It would be “AWESOME!” because in that first year of learning, I experienced new things and discovered a lot. Thanks to all my professors who did a great job in fulfilling our minds with new and improved knowledge. Of course there are also times when I was having a really tough time on projects and assignments but I seek the help of my classmates and friends, we really helped each other so much through our ups and downs. We experienced a lot of trials together. There are also times when we got mad and upset with each other because of the stress and misunderstandings but because we’re friends these trials won’t last long. We know it’s part of being a student and it’s just natural but what’s more important to us is that even though there were bad times, we never forget to take time to breathe and reconcile with each other. I’m so happy during my first year, it was a BLAST!! The happiest part is that I’m learning while having fun with these AWESOME people I call FRIENDS.

OUR EXHIBIT
DURING OUR EXHIBIT
Just a short flashback from our first months of being an MMA student, we were just so self-centered, a little bit immature I guess and other just doesn’t care that much as some of us are. We were not “ONE” we have this small groups within the class that separates us from being united. But as moths passed, we learned “TEAMWORK” and work as a team. I think the most memorable project we’ve done as a team is our EXHIBIT because we had to really communicate and cooperate with each other for the sake of our class project. And yes. We made it through! And we were so proud of it.

However, my first year is just a glimpse of what the future awaits me, what kind of jobs we will deal with on the outside world. I know as time passes by, there would be a LOT of hardships and trials that we need to pass through, more misunderstandings and miscommunications. We know in ourselves that no matter how the situations may be, we will never put down each other and keep the BOND and FRIENDSHIP strong.

Moving on, the first year has ended! So here comes the most awaited VACATION!!! And we were like “YES!”
But I’m not really excited about it, because personally I don’t like vacation that much I’m contended with just 2 to 3 weeks of rest. I would say that my vacation was pretty FUN and BORING. I had time with my family and old friends but most of the time it’s really boring. I miss my classmates and friends, I miss the school, I miss wearing my uniform too.
VACATION TIME WITH FRIENDS!!
During my vacation, I also experienced so many things; I gained new lessons in life and new beginning in other chapters of my life. There’s a time when I got really depressed and I feel nothing but depression. My friends were all there for me to support me and I am so thankful for having them ALWAYS. They made me realize a lot of things and made me understand what’s right and what I deserve and be thankful for what God has planned for me.

Now, this is a new beginning of another year. I’m looking forward to more trials and problems to overcome with my dear MMA friends and of course guide our MMA babies and help them whenever they need us.
CHEERS TO US!

Proverb 20:24 - poster for final exam

This is my very simple but meaningful poster for final practical exam on color theory. I used images from Google and combined these images to interpret the meaning of  proverb 20:24 - A man's steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way?

I put an image of a fortune teller to interpret the line " How then can anyone understand his own way?" We all know what fortune tellers do and for me what they are doing is a such a very big mistake in the eyes of the Lord because they seem to make their own predictions.

This poster is 8"x10" and the color scheme was simply warm colors such as the red and yellow and a bit of saturation and light effects.

Blog# 9-- Contemporary art

Contemporary art is the art of the new generation.
It is the start of the new generation of artists.
Different styles have been developed and combined to form a new kind of art.

"Contemporary art can be defined variously as art produced at this present point in time or art produced since World War II." -- wkipedia.org

Contemporary art has also negative feedbacks even though it is considered as the newest kind of art, many critics are criticizing the artworks specially when it comes into the meaning of the artwork but then again only the artist can have the right to explain what his/her artwork is all about because we have different perspectives and perception. Our perception can be different to the artist's interpretation of his artwork.

Many galleries are built to showcase the talents and skills of the new generation painters. Cartoon making also evolved in this era and other media based artworks.

Blog #8 -- 20th century Art

For me, this era is just the continuation of the modern art.
This period is more advanced than modern art and showed a lot of improvements and developments.
20th century art has evolved greatly specially in fields of photography.
But the rise of photography affected the portrait painting industry because photographers offers cheaper rates and faster outputs.

The main idea or style used in this period is more of
expressionism pertaining to abstractionism.
This period for me has the best application of their skills because of the use of modern technology and advanced researches. But of course the early art forms are still the strong foundation behind this very successful period.

Blog#7 -- The start of something new

First, what is modern art?

Modern art includes artistic works produced during the period extending roughly from the 1860s to the 1970s, and denotes the style and philosophy of the art produced during that era. -
-wikipedia.org

Okay, so for me, modern art is the start of something new and extraordinary.
This period started all the modernization and improvements in art history.

Artists in this period also started to explore new techniques and approach to art.
This new style of art has a lot of styles used such as expressionism, impressionism and abstractionism.

This is where photography started and slowly became known into the art industry. This is the birth of a more creative artists who adopted the basics from the first artists and developed their own approach.

Modern art begins with the heritage of painters like Vincent van GoghPaul CézannePaul GauguinGeorges Seurat and Henri de Toulouse Lautrec all of whom were essential for the development of modern art. At the beginning of the 20th century Henri Matisse and several other young artists including the pre-cubist Georges BraqueAndré DerainRaoul Dufy and Maurice de Vlaminck revolutionized the Paris art world with "wild", multi-colored, expressive landscapes and figure paintings that the critics called Fauvism. -- Wikipedia.org

Blog #6 -- arts beyond the west

This topic is the ultimate overview of the past blogs. In arts beyond the west, many cultures and styles have emerged in different parts of the world from Asia to America.

I have learned that their styles and characteristics were similar to each other. For example, in Asia such as Japan, Korea, China and India, they are very traditional in terms of their subject matter.
They all present their gods through paintings and sculptures.

While in the American side, from Africa to the Pacific and the North America, they usually make masks and sculptures than paintings, they all possess the "hunting" characteristic with their artwork, they used naturalism because their life and events are shown in their artworks.

It influenced us Filipinos a lot, we have statues of our saints, we also portray them through different art forms.
Many painters also paint the daily lives of Filipinos.

So for me, arts beyond the west is the collaboration of the different art forms from the whole world.

Blog #5 -- The baroque Period

The Baroque is a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, literature, dance, and music.

It is a French transliteration of the Portuguese phrase "pérola barroca", which means "irregular pearl", and natural pearls that deviate from the usual, regular forms so they do not have an axis of rotation are known as "baroque pearls".

I personally think that baroque period has the most powerful artworks because it shows motion, tension, details, grandeur and beauty.
Like for example, a simple sculpture of a man in a fight, in baroque sculpture, it is very detailed until to the smallest parts of it. We can actually see the muscles of a man or simply how the wind blew the dress. Take note that it is on a sculpture! how difficult is that to do?!

Baroque period is somewhat like an extension of the renaissance period where in they just improved it and make use of other subject matter. but the styles are similar.

In this period, they have used 2 kinds of style.

1. Naturalism.
-it is naturalism because it portrays the different activities or daily events happening around us.It shows life.

2. Classicism
-because of the use of the techniques during the renaissance period such as the chiaroscuro and other styles found in the renaissance era. It also shows elegance and beauty.

Blog #4-- RENAISSANCE PERIOD

RENAISSANCE means "rebirth"

It is called rebirth because in this period, different styles of art are used once again, like naturalism, expressionism, post- expressionism and many more. In the previous era which is the Christian Art which portrays religious based concepts and styles.

Many artists boomed in the renaissance period, some of them are Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael Sanzio and Michaelangelo Bounarroti. Their artworks are very popular during this era because people are so excited to see artworks that portrays realism and naturalism.

In this period, we witnessed a revival of classical themes in art and literature, a return to the realistic depiction of nature through keen observation, and the revitalization of the Greek Philosophy of humanism, in which human dignity, ideas, and capabilities are of central importance.

For me, art in this era has the most number of great artists.
The famous Mona Lisa always reminds me of the Renaissance period, it has been one of the trade mark of this period although the identity of the lady on the painting has not yet been determined with such evidence.
Leonardo da Vinci might really leave it a mystery so that no matter how many decades may pass, people will not stop admiring his Mona Lisa.

Blog #3 -- CHRISTIAN ART

I have learned a lot from this period. I have also seen the different architectural designs of many famous churches around the globe. As the time passes by, the design and structure of the churches also evolve to a much better one.

This period showed a lot of Christianity and how Christians adopt the culture when Constantine banned Christianity. They have showed strong faith in God by building underground graves and held underground mass. They have done everything they could to save Christianity and when Constantine finally converted as a Christian, they built extravagant churches that would mean they want the whole world to know that they were still existing and they built it to spread the Christianity to the whole world.

The structures of the churches also shows their faith. They have painted biblical people on the walls and ceilings to make the people see them.

Blog #2-- Every sculpture has a story

“The conquered became the conquerors, and the conquerors became the conquered.”
when the Romans conquered Greeks, Greeks conquered Romans by influencing their culture
.they both have the same set of gods and godesses. It also shows in their art because they almost
have the same kind of ways on how to represent their art.
The story behind every sculpture is a mystery but some studies says that some of the sculptures
really depict the true image of the gods.

The kind of art they used in this period is idealism. Because they create a human-like structures
make it as realistic as possible.
This era made me think that the gods and godesses where very beautiful, like perfect. After
knowing the story,  I really wanna see the images of their gods and wondering how did they ever
made such beautiful sculptures without even a pattern to get it from? And why is that the gods and
godesses made us all believe that they are the most beautiful creations in the world? like they were
the standard of being the perfect faces and body.

It's pretty amazing that even in the early times, people were already aware of having a "god"
and worship them as if they were really the reason behind their success in life.
For me, Greek and Roman art is just the same. They both have a very beautiful bond that reflected through their artworks and the culture itself'.
