BLOG #1 -- THE STORY BEHIND THE ANCIENT ART

For me, ancient art is the beginning of all arts. It has been the foundation of all kinds of art. It has been the inspiration behind every great artwork. 


Ancient art showed me the value of real art and this is the representation of yourself through artistic creations.
Our ancestors really did great because if weren't for them, maybe we could not do some things that we do now. 


Through this early art form, it made me realize that until now, I am still and will always be influenced by ancient art. I express my feeling through my creations. I love to tell people how I feel. 
Ancient art is also all about unity, we can see that lots of country were united under the same timeline and they share the same kind of practices, they represent their daily lives through their simple cave paintings to  make a history and to make us know that they were once there and to prove to us that they were the once to show it first. 

Learning the history of ancient art is the basic thing we all have to know if we want to be successful in the industry of arts and sciences. It made our generation stronger and more advanced, we could have never be in this kind of life if our ancestors did not discover arts, in other words, we don't know maybe the kind of technology that we are having now is just the beginning for the next generation. I mean, we are not really sure if we were really the only living thing in this planet, we don't know what are their art forms. Arts is truly full of mystery, full of history. 


So let us remember that ancient art will always be a part of every meaningful creation.

WEEK 7: The collaboration of my life

Actually, I really planned to learn Photoshop but I can't do montage so I decided to just use online montage maker.

There are lots of templates that I can use with my montage but I have chosen this template because I love to love the people around me. I am a lovable person, I also like to say "i love you" to my friends.
I believe that saying this word can uplift someone's life.

My life isn't that perfect. Right now, I am broken. A long story of my love life but I guess I'll share some of it with you guys.

I'll begin with my story, There is this boy whom I love so much, but he went to Japan with his band to perform there. We started our relationship this year on June 12 to be specific but last month we broke up for some very serious reason.
Right now I am really thinking if I'm gonna tell you the reason of our break up...
I am so broken honestly until now I am but I just don't show it to other people. I don't want my grades to be affected and plus I have to handle The Lyceum Concert Singers so I have to separate my personal life from these problems.
I am really trying to be happy inspite of being broken. Thanks to my Highschool and College friends who are always there for me in good and in bad times.

OKAY! I think that's enough for now. So that's my past and my present love life status. Quite emotional but I know I'll be really okay SOON. That's the reason why I chose that design for my montage. 

Week 6: The soundtrack of my life

 I had a hard time choosing the best song that could define myself or simply my life. But after so many tries, I ended up with "who says" by Selena Gomez. I really like the meaning of the song, it's all about being positive about yourself and believing in what you can do.

I am just a simple girl with many dreams in life, when I was in my childhood years, I thought of being a singer but before all I can do is to engage myself into the choir group of my school and in high school I joined a singing contest and thanks to God I ranked 3rd out of several contestants from different year levels. Moving on, now in my college days, I develop various characteristics, some of those are my self-esteem, self- confidence and self- discipline which I acquired through different situations. I have learned from my mistakes and don't ever do it again. The song really tells a lot of meaning into my life.

I don't want to be somebody I am not. I have been to many trials in my life, many insecurities and wrong impressions but I don't really care. Only those people who can judge me are those who really know me inside and out. I believe that nobody's perfect but I do believe that being imperfect is a way to be somehow perfect and Imperfection sometimes makes us simple and humble.

The song implies not only the physical appearance but also the beauty of the soul.

WEEK 5: Drug Addiction is a CRIME!

In my own opinion, drug addiction is one of the major problems of youth here in the Philippines.
It ruins every life of a young heart and develops into a monstrous creature. Illegal drugs like marijuana and nicotine are just some of the  many drugs that destroy many lives.

Addiction to drugs doesn't bring any benefit to our lives, it is also a way of wasting money and of course wasting our precious life. God has given us this life to make use of it in a good way, he gave us this body to take care of and not to abuse it.

One way that I can do to stop drug addiction is by doing this simple blog to make people aware and by telling them how important our life is, problems are just tests given by God for us to solve properly but not with the help of these drugs. No matter how hard our problems are, we, the youth should never try using drugs because once you use it, there is no assurance that you'll not get hooked to it so better not to start than to suffer forever.

But did you ever think that you only fool yourself when you plagiarize? You refuse to learn and just do the easy way. It’s a way of fooling yourself and fooling everybody around you especially when you presented it and claim that it was your work.

It’s a bad habit to start with because in the real world, no one is really allowed to copy other’s work. It’s another way of stealing.

How can we ever prevent this practice? One way is to start it within the family. Parents should teach their children at early age that plagiarism is not good for them.

Plagiarism is a crime. It doesn’t only affect the people around you, but it also affects you from within, it’s your conscience against your tardiness.

Because plagiarism is caused by tardiness and laziness, you tempt to do it because you are too lazy to do your own because you have other priorities like playing computer games which are common for students.

WEEK 3: A long and fun week end for everyone

The long week end is over back to school!

I enjoyed the long week end because I got time to rest and to bond with my family. I have plenty of time to relax and not to think about the upcoming projects and assignments. I also used that vacation to prepare myself because I know that the following week is going to be stressful.

During the long week end, together with my family we celebrated the vacation, we had a small family feast and at night we had a small drinking session. It was a blast because it was our only time to bond and maybe the next time is going to be Christmas time so I am very thankful for the long week end.

When boredom strikes, I just edit some of my pictures, make short videos, listen to music, watch television and surf the net the usual routine of a typical teen ager.

The long week end was worth because we didn’t get enough sleep the whole week preparing for the lingo ng Wika and the booth. I felt very relieved and stress-free.

WEEK 2: A challenging and fun week for everybody!

The Buwan ng Wika is such a very stressful and fun event for us because we joined the folk dance competition but unfortunately we did not win.We exerted so much effort on everything including our booth, we planned for it a month before the actual event but unfortunately we did not win on that category also but it's okay, what's more important for us is not to win but the bonding moments with each other, the teamwork and the cooperation that we had during the event, we all helped each other in order to finish our booth.

We performed "La Jota Moncadenia" a spanish folk dance originated in Visayas and must be performed using castanets. Although we did not make it, we still had fun during practice and it strengthen our friendship even more.

I performed with the Lyceum Concert Singers. We sang the prayer "ama namin" and the National Anthem on the opening of the event. Then, we also sang "Tagumpay nating lahat" and "Isang Dugo, Isang Lahi at Musika" for intermission number. I am really glad every time I perform with this group. I lived almost all my college life with them and now as the new president of this group it is my responsibility to make sure that this group will still exist with or without a conductor. I am very much thankful to all the members specially to our new conductor Mr. Adrian Suizo for accepting the responsibility to be our conductor. I know we did our best during the event.

I had so much fun in this event even though it is very stressful because I had to practice the folk dance as well as to practice with the Lyceum Concert Singers and to help make our  booth. I am very happy that it's over and we have a long weekend to rest. I am looking forward for more exciting, challenging and fun events.

WEEK 1: Passed or Failed? See you next sem or see you again next year?

The first half of the semester was a blast for me, I realized the big difference of my new course from my previous course. It is definitely harder and the subjects are more interesting too.
I was still coping with my new environment and new professors because in my previous course, It seemed so easy to pass and it is more on tours and non-academic activities.

Right now at this very moment, I am thinking of my grades whether I will pass all of my subjects or not. But I know in myself that I did my best and I'm still hoping that all of us will pass the first half of the school year. I must admit that I have difficulty on the subjects specially in Algebra because I'm not really good at it and another one is in Philippine Government, I find it a little bit hard because it was different from other subjects and it requires a lot of memorization about the constitution.

I was so active and I manage my time for studies and as a president of the Lyceum Concert Singers. It is terribly hard because I know that all the responsibilities are on me and I have to manage my group for us to exist and still  learn new songs. This cultural group is a big part of my first half as a MMA student.
I have experienced a lot of new things together with new friends. I love MMA I love CAS and with due respect with my previous department, I would just like to say that I am more happy in my new department not only because of my new course but also because of my new friends and environment.

It's just the beginning of the journey. I am expecting more projects, assignments and harder quizzes. Next semester it'll be hell. I am praying to God that we can all pass this first half and wishing that we will still be together next semester. Honestly, one of my greatest fear is that at some point we'll get dissolved because MMA students are very few so I am encouraging my friends and classmates to do their very best so that next year, we'll still be one section.

Good luck for all of us! I know we can do it! WE CAN PASS! Keep on striving and study harder. 

NEW TECHNOLOGY AND IT'S EFFECTS

No doubt that new technology affects all of us in many different ways. We can now access any information that we need because there are already lots of websites that we could use as our source such as google and yahoo. We can also get information of other person through social networking sites such as twitter, facebook, myspace, tumblr and many more websites. It's also very dangerous to put so much personal details because when a person decides to go in public, everything that he posts there can be viewed by everyone so for me, if you would like to be safe in the internet world, you should not put all the personal information about your yourself or even your family.

Nowadays, new technology changed the way we communicate with our family and friends, for instance, if we're gonna tell our friend to hang out even if she's  just 100 steps away, instead of telling her directly, we usually text her for faster deliverance of the message. The traditional way of communication has been already fading slowly through this kind of new technology, it also makes people less expressive of what they feel and instead of saying it directly to the person, he or she will say it through email or text. All of these new media is somewhat good and bad, it is good because we can all use it to tell everyone how we feel but it is bad because some people use it for bad intentions.

New media does not limit our personal freedom because we are free to post what we want, want we think and feel. It allows us to express ourselves in a modern way. It is a fast medium for instant feedback and that helps a lot specially in work and at school.

The bottom line is that technology is already there but it is on us people to use it in a productive way in order to be a good netizen and as a healthy  individual.

Is social media good or bad?

Well, for me it’s a yes and a no. It really depends on the person whether he or she will use it in a good and productive way or will use it to destroy anybody or even himself. Social media sites are very addicting so we really have to control ourselves. It is essential for people who work online to update their sites because it’s part of their living but for those people who are really addict to these social media sites are not good. It may destroy their lives in a way that they will no longer have a verbal communication with their family and friends, very dependent on the internet and in some cases it will also affect the brain, it can cause psychological disorders due to the radiation of the computer.

It is all a matter of self-control and self-discipline. Use the technology to make our works easier but not depend on it. No doubt these social sites are helping us in various ways like meeting old friends and relatives, update on current events and even connect with our loved ones but we should not forget the fact that too much of everything is bad.

Usually when I go online, I don’t limit myself as long as I’m not done with what I’m doing a project or whatever it may be but I assure to myself that I know how to stop. I measure myself whether I am tired or if I am already using so much of my time on these sites.

I don’t want social media sites affect my personal life it should not be the reason for any misunderstanding between me and my family I don’t want to make stupid decisions that may lead to danger because nowadays many incidents have been reported because of these social sites such as meeting someone from the internet and results to murder or rape. I don’t ever want that to happen to me. Don’t let it run your life. Don’t let it be your life forever. 

Mediocrity vs. Excellence

Mediocrity means being average and ordinary. 

Excellence is a talent or quality which is unusually good and so surpasses ordinary standards. It is also an aimed for standard of performance.

We should not be contended with just being on the mediocrity zone, we should also think of our future. It is a bad habit for just settling for a so-so grade and not aiming for the top. It is our duty as students to do our best in every challenges specially our responsibilities as a student. 

There is nothing wrong with doing your best even if we can't make it to the top at least we know in ourselves that we did the very best and strive hard. Excellence has many meanings, it doesn't only mean that we should always be on top instead, it truly defines all the satisfaction of our hard works and achievements in life. If you are satisfied with what you have done it is enough to be proud of your excellence. 

We should not settle for any JUST and ORDINARY achievements because practicing what you already know doesn't help, instead practice your weakness and improve it in order to achieve true excellence.

THE FUTURE IS IN OUR HANDS

The future technology?

It’s amazing but it’s also scary. Because the future generation might not be able to experience things the traditional way, the kids might not know how to play “patintero” they will all be born in such a new and different world. Too much of advanced technology for me is not that necessary because the people will never be contended of what they have, they will crave for more advanced technology knowing that it has already been so much compared before, like for example the speed of the computer, they will still look for faster and advanced. The virtue of being contended is slowly fading because of never ending advancement of our technology and people might not think what they already have and might not give importance to it.

Being advanced is good, but too much of it will destroy the culture. As what the saying goes “too much of everything is not good” and so as to technology. Who knows? Maybe on the next 15 years, people don’t speak at all and communicate through non-verbal communication only? Well, I don’t like to live in that kind of world, as for my future children, I don’t want to raise then with that kind of environment. Our future depends on us. We must first know how to make our world better but still a healthy and normal one.

We have to think what we want the world to be on the next generation. It’s all in our hands. Let’s make a difference and preserve the culture. 

The best video for me?

I really loved the video of Andrew Abrigo's group the most. But I think all of us did great videos. I know that we all did all our best to make our videos and put so much effort in it. Different concepts but definitely good videos and different ways to present the ways of communication.
The animations they used made their  videos very interesting to watch specially the animations on Louina Beato's group video it is very cute and catchy.
The video of Arvie Surio's group is very unique and creative, it is very funny and at the same time very informative.
I am really proud of the videos we have made because as  first year students  we can already do such videos and we still can improve our skills as years go by, so I am hoping to do more videos with you guys! Keep up the good work!

Stop, Look and Listen!

TRAFFIC?! Oh my God! That's when I start to pray hoping that my teacher is late or absent! haha! That's when I keep on looking at my watch and estimating how much time I got to be on time! I really hate traffic specially when I'm in a hurry! It irritates me so bad that I start to blame the driver about it and saying what is wrong with him and he's driving really slow, and it really drives me crazy when I only have about 10mins to get to school then suddenly the driver decides to drop by at a gasoline station!!!

As a student of course there will always be a time when you feel so lazy to get up and go to school specially when it's raining. But what I usually do is to keep in mind my attendance and that my parents are paying for my education for me to learn. Traffic is nothing compared to what other students encounter in remote areas in some cases, they swim almost a mile just to get to school. I really adored those kind of students who are eager to learn.

Traffic is such a very irritating moment but it also brings motivation in a sense that I should get up early so that even if I get stuck in a traffic, I will still be able to be on time at school because I allotted so much time for any incident just like traffic.

Graffiti Party

The party was a blast! It was my first time to attend the graffiti party because I did not attend the party last year. I had so much fun! My classmates and friends were very happy to be with, and our performance was very meaningful and we are very happy with the result of our hardship to finish the video.  Although the original plan on the ending was not exactly how we planned it because of the time limit, but I am still very proud of what we did for our college.

I did not expect that the party is going to be that wild, the band was so great, the crowd was having fun and music is the only language that's going around there. The performers were very lively and hot. I really enjoyed watching different performances from different colleges. 

I am looking forward for other parties and events and I'm hoping that it would be as fun as the graffiti party because honestly among all the parties I have joined, last night's party was the best party ever! I hope you feel the same way!

Internet Usage In Asia

Asia has the most number of internet users all over the world. China in particular is the highest among all countries in asia. It has 44.0% users all over. That is why Asia is the most advanced continent when it comes to technology. 
Internet affects the daily lives of Filipinos, and nowadays, Internet has become a need of every individual because it just doesn't help people to make their work easier, it also make things more productive and less time-consuming.


In the Philippines, 29,700,000 or 29.7 is the latest data of internet users. No doubt, Philippines has slowly becoming a techie country following the steps of our fellow asian countries. We have adopted other countries' lifestyle such as the trends and their ways of living with the help of internet. 

On the Average standing of Asia, It has reached almost half of internet users all over the world. 


Some research stated that too much use of computer may result to brain cancer and because of that we all should be aware that having  advanced technology has also a disadvantage. 


Due to excessive use of internet, many kids are having early diseases we all should have in our minds that we should limit our use of computers not only because it can lead to diseases but to make use of our energy into some other things. 


DON'T LET COMPUTER MANAGE YOUR LIFE AND YOUR TIME.

Why did I decide to stay at Lyceum of the Philippines University- Laguna?

I have decided to stay because Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna is a good school. I really love the environment and the people. The subjects are very interesting too as well as the teachers, they focus on the quality of education that they give to their students.
My parents also thinks that the school has a very nice environment and it is also safe there for students, the school is accessible to anyone. Every cent we pay is worth the knowledge I can gain, the teachers are professional and they manage their students very well the proper attitude is the most important lesson they thought me.
And also there is one thing that I have learned during my 1st year on LPL as a Tourism Student,
"No matter how intelligent the student is, if he or she doesn't have the right values, he or she is not a true Lycean."
and " Attitude is not based on the intelligence of a person, thus, it is based on the actions of the doer."
My previous professors thought me how to be a true Lycean student.

On my very first day as a Tourism student, I keep on telling myself that I want to graduate in this school no matter what happen. I like to have Lyceum of the Philippines- Laguna to be my alma matter..
And that is the best reason why I chose to stay at LPL.
